How to Deal with Traumatic Dental Injuries: Tips to Manage Complications

Traumatic dental injuries are considered the most complex cases in dentistry, requiring multidisciplinary treatment approaches. Dental trauma, particularly luxation injuries, is suggested as one of the major potential predisposing factors for the injury and stimulation phases of root resorption. This lecture will discuss the contemporary management strategies to prevent the most common complications of dental traumatic injuries, such as dental root resorption and tooth loss, considering the current evidence-based guidelines. In addition, severe luxation injuries with complicated crown fractures that were treated with multidisciplinary interventions will be presented, accompanied by recent data from scientific research. Careful clinical and radiographical examination will allow the clinician to determine the appropriate treatment plan for the successful management of traumatic dental injuries and their complications.
