Güliz N. GÜNCÜ was graduated in 2000 from Hacettepe University, School of Dentistry. She was admitted in the Department Periodontics in the same university and completed her specialty in Periodontics and got PhD degree in 2006. In 2007 she worked as a visiting scholar in Oral Biology Department in University of Pittsburgh. She received professor degree in 2016. She has published scientific papers, and presented in meetings nationally and internationally in periodontology and dental implantology areas, also completed scientific committee memberships and referee duties in SCI indexed journals; maintains membership in European Academy of Periodontology and Turkish Periodontology Society and fellowship in International Team for Implantology. She has received 2019 TÜBİTAK Incentive Award in Health Sciences by her researches conducted on detecting biomarkers that play role in pathogenesis of periodontitis and peri-implantitis to establish personalized oral health care approaches.
The Importance of Periodontal Treatment Approaches For Successful Results in Aesthetic Dentistry.
Important aims of the dental treatment are to successfully rehabilitate the dentition both functionally and esthetically. Aesthetic expectations of the patients have dramatically increased in the last decade. To achieve successful results in aesthetic dentistry a multidisciplinary treatment approach is needed. One of the important discipline for these treatments is periodontics. The gingival architecture and periodontal health are important for ensuring optimal esthetics following restorative procedures. For successful aesthetics dental treatments, the color, level, contour of the gingiva, presence and position of papilla, periodontal biotype, three-dimensional position of dental implants, proper emergence profile and health of the periodontal – peri-implant tissues are the important points to be evaluated. Therefore, periodontal treatments have important role in achieving successful esthetic dental restorations. In this presentation, the clinical and surgical periodontal treatment methods that can be performed to provide aesthetics and the points to be considered in the treatment planning for a successful aesthetic results will be discussed over the clinical cases.

Dilemmas in Success and Failure in Prevention of Peri-implantitis
According to literature peri-implantitis, an inflammatory pathological condition occurring around dental implants, is considered to progress at a faster rate than periodontitis and also the prevalence of peri‐implantitis was higher and this rate was found to increase as a function of time. There is dilemma in the prevention of peri-implantitis and success or failure in prevention is still unpredictable. These dilemmas can be resolved through effective risk analysis. For these reasons, determining the risk factors for peri-implantitis and revealing the risk profile of the individual make a significant contribution to establish treatment plan for preventive interventions and maintenance program to be applied before peri-implantitis occurs. This presentation reviews the risk factors for peri-implantitis by evaluating all possible factors in clinical scenarios of patients. Propriate protocols will be discussed that should be implemented into dental practice to help establish an early diagnosis as well as factors to control for preventing peri‐implantitis, simple treatment options, preventative strategies, risk management and maintenance to limit unsuccessful implant treatment.
